The island of Naxos holds a big tradition throughout the years in the art of weaving.Until recently, almost every home in the mountainous Naxos had its own loom, the so called "crevataria" in the local dilect.

The art of weaving is being kept alive in Moni vilage. Maria Hamilithori has contributed a lot to the continuation of this old tradition. She loves working on the loom since her childhood and has dedicated 32 years of her life working with patience and creativity producing hand-woven items - pieces of art.

In her workshop "Argalios" (the loom) at Moni village one has the opportunity to admire the skillfulness and the inspiration displayed on Maria's hand-woven creations on which she works thoroughly up to the last detail.

In the "Argalios" workshop you can also find handmade pieces of art made of blown glass, handmade masks, ceramic items, as well as traditional small furniture items.
